I would like to introduce our Chapter’s Youth Ambassador for 2015, Cassandra Schiller from Hamburg, NY. Cassie is a 7th grader at Hamburg Middle School and lives with her parents, Michael and Jennifer and siblings,
Mitchell and Madlyn. Cassie has long been involved with TSA of Greater NY State. She is a very talented piano and flute player, an excellent soccer player and she loves to sing. She has starred in her school’s musical and reports that music helps her calm her nerves, which in turn calms her tics.
She has done peer in services on TS for her classmates and recently was on a student panel at an Educator’s Conference on Tourette Syndrome where she spoke eloquently about her own experiences in school with TS.
On March 25 of this year Cassie and her Mom will travel to Washington, DC where she will participate in the youth ambassador training program and will also have the opportunity to meet with her Senators and Representatives on Capitol Hill to lobby for issues that affect all persons with TS.
We congratulate Cassie and wish her safe travels to DC. We look very much forward to having her present peer in services in our area.
