What is Ticapalooza?

Camp Ticapalooza is our chapter’s annual annual weekend overnight camping program for kids ages 7 to 17 with Tourette Syndrome.  It’s been held every fall for the past 15 years.  For the past 8 years, it’s been held at YMCA Camp Cory on beautiful Keuka Lake in the Fingerlakes region.

Optionally, parent(s) and sibling(s) may join us or they may safely drop off their child on Friday afternoon and then pick up on Sunday afternoon, since we have a 1 to 3 ratio of counselors to children.  Additionally, a group of occupational therapy students from X University help us out, and the staff at Camp Cory is there to supervise a wide variety of activities, including kayaking, paddle boarding, zip lining, climbing wall, archery, field games, and a ropes course.

Other activities include a gigantic bounce cushion, gaga ball (a variant of dodgeball),  tennis courts and volleyball.  On Saturday evening we have our annual talent show.  There’s always something for everyone.

Ticapalooza is a place where, as one camper put it, “You can drop your mask at the door, and be free to be you.”  Scholarships are available.

In 2017 we welcomed a record number of campers: 64!

Donations are always welcome to help cover the cost of scholarships for this fun-filled weekend.
